Online retail is booming - but Germany still has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to digitalization, especially in international comparison. The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport 2023 therefore adopted a new digital strategy. Alexander Rabe, CEO of the eco Association of the Internet Industry, is also aware of the relevance of the new digital and data strategy. In the new episode of "Thanks for Shopping", he explains to our podcast hosts Nadja Müller and Saravanan Sundaram how and why the digital strategy of the traffic light government is providing the initial impetus, what challenges exist in its implementation and what means still need to be taken to support this.
Between 2012 and 2016, Alexander worked in various roles for the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI) and has been Head of the Policy, Legal and Regulatory Department since 2016. Today, in his role as Managing Director, he is responsible for the strategic, content-related and communicative external representation of the eco Association in Berlin, Brussels and Cologne. Thanks to his in-depth experience in the industry, Alexander knows exactly what is important for the new digital strategy: "Data strategy is an issue on which the German government must position itself and find approaches on how we can constructively shape the digital transformation of the economy and society."
In the new episode of "Thanks For Shopping", Alexander discusses topics such as the Ministry of Digital Affairs, digital identities and the establishment of a data center - areas that represent important innovations, especially for online retailers and their online stores - and explains in which areas the digital strategy can be readjusted from his perspective.
