air up revolutionizes the beverage industry - with co-founder Lena Jüngst: How smells influence our taste
"Thanks for Shopping" is back with its second season: more news, more insights and trends from the e-commerce scene. Also new: the Industry Gossip - what is overrated? What is underrated? Our fynax leaders and podcast hosts Nadja Müller and Saravanan Sundaram have once again invited great guests.
In the first episode they talk to air-up founder Lena Jüngst about her start-up's recipe for success. The innovative drinking system, which flavors water with fragrances, declares war on sugary soft drinks and is the ultimate drinking bottle among young people. The so-called "scent pods", which are docked onto the integrated drinking tube, give the water a specific aroma and thus a completely new taste. The medical term for this is "retronal aroma perception".
"Taste is a complex interplay of all sensory impressions, especially our sense of smell. Our sense of taste is not limited to our tongue - just 20 percent of the actual taste is perceived through it," explains the founder. Jüngst came across this fact together with her co-founder Tim Jäger as part of their bachelor's thesis. "So we asked ourselves: how do smells influence our taste and can taste be simulated?" Jüngst continues. The two founders couldn't let go of this question and soon developed a product idea.
In the podcast, the idea generator talks about the growth of her company, how it has become so successful in such a short time and what else is planned for the future. Sounds exciting? Then listens why not take a look!
